Here at Bizzuka, we are lucky enough to have a quarterly 'FedEx' day. It gets its name from the concept of having '24 hour delivery' of a new product. Simply put, it's a full 24 hours (usually Thursday at noon- Friday at noon) that we walk away from our endless emails and to-do lists, team up with staff from all departments, and work on innovative projects that we choose. We usually have a few less than glamorous projects that involve hours of programming to help move some part of Bizzuka to the next level, and we always try to have at least one out-of-the-box project. "
Bizzuka-In-A-Minute" is that project for Spring 2011 FedEx.
It was Steven Piper's (Bizzuka's Front-End Implementer) idea for a video that could be used in presentations, on our office dashboard, and anywhere else our marketing team could find. In a past life, Steven did some video development, and he found a template and a (Ridiculously Catchy) song to go with it. He recruited Thomas Latiolais (Bizzuka's Creative Director) and myself to storyboard while he got to work on the technical aspects of getting it together. A few Mountain Dews and a number of coffee refills later, I had worked out the verbiage, and Steven & Thomas had finalized the color scheme, overall look, and portfolio examples. Steven spent Friday morning with Development's MacBook Pro (the only workstation that could render with any kind of speed) and got it finished with 2 hours to spare. It was the FedEx Reveal Grande Finale, and the song is still stuck in our heads weeks later.
It was fun to work on, got to show Steven's After Effects skills, Thomas' all around genius, and I got to stretch my Marketing skills. I hope you enjoy it, and we're already dreaming up ideas for next quarter's FedEx!
